Two questions:

Last time I installed XAMPP I did it manually with su. The shiny new installer.run requires sudo. I don't have sudo enabled. I don't want sudo enabled. Is there a way to install XAMPP with su in 2016?

Is XAMPP contaminated in any way with systemd? If so I'll have to find another option.

No, i dont think so. The installer needs root permission, but if you go via sudo or su is your free choice. You even may login as root.

Thanks for the suggestion. So I can just run it in a root terminal? Seems I tried that a while back and it failed but might be mis-remembering.

What about systemd encumbrances?

Is that for security reasons? You are more at risk allowing direct root login rather than limiting sudo to your wheel group which you can limit per user.

Can you answer me that same question for all the other thousand packages on your Linux? What about systemd encumbrances? Obviously you already answered that question for all packages, you never ever would install anything without precise knowledge?! Am i right? i would be happy if you share youre huge knowledge. P.S.: If unsure - dont use Xampp. Simple, isnt it?
