I have installed Ubuntu 15.10 and XAMPP for Linux 5.6.12-0.

For debugging SQL queries, you must ask them from the terminal.

After you start

Starting XAMPP for Linux 5.6.12-0...
XAMPP: Starting Apache...ok.
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...ok.

out what to enter, how to set the SQL query from the terminal ?
