Mod_Rewrite and Password Protected dir

Hello, I protected the root dir of a web site with htaccess and htpasswd and mod_rewrite does not work anymore.
Is there a way to make mod_rewrite working inside a password protected directory?

You must be doing something wrong, it works perfectly for me.

You're right, there surely was a mistake in the .htaccess file. I wrote it again and now it works. Sorry...
