server not accessable from outside

i have an up and running linux server..
i installed xampp on that server via putty.
i started the xampp..
when i send a curl request to localhost in putty...
server respond to xampp home page..
but when i tried to access my server via ip in my browser(via outside internet).
server did not respond..
i am new to linux server..
but i have experience in xampp windows.
please help
