mysql server password and login issues

Postby adetheheat » 11. June 2014 15:10

I have just installed xampp-linux-1.8.3.4 and it went ok. I then started it with >lampp start and everything went ok.
I then ran >lamppsecurity to set up some passwords and for mysql it said:
MYSQL has a root passwort set. Fine!

1. But I don't know the root password - I haven't set it up? So what is it.
2. also i can't access mysql because when I type >mysql it comes back with
Access denied for user 'ubuntu'@'localhost' (using password: No)

So what do I use for login/password ?

This always destroys the Xampp Installation (i have no idea, why it is still delivered and why people are using it), you should uninstall everything, install it again and then avoid "security". There is no need for "security", as long you run Xampp standalone on your own PC.
