Moving on to the localhost display in the web browser, I get confirmation on the welcome screen that I have successfully installed XAMPP for Linux 1.8.3-3. However, on the Status page, I see that MySQL Database is deactivated. (PHP extension »OPcache« and PHP extension »OCI8/Oracle« are also deactivated. The four remaining components -- PHP, Perl, CGI and SSI -- are all activated.) Here's a screenshot:
I've checked the FAQ and looked for README files to explain why MySQL isn't activated or how to make it activated. So far, no luck. Hence, my first post on the support forum.
