Apache Friends Support Forum

When I enter "mysql -u root -p" I get the following message: "The program 'mysql' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install mysql-client-core-5.5"

I currently have it installed under LAMPP so why can't my system find it?
