problem with running xampp and phpmyadmin

Greetings...

can anyone help me with this problem plz. ok here's what i have done to my linux.

first i installed lampp manually. and i was successfull in installing some features. however i changed my mined and decided to install the whole xampp package and not bother my self. so i downloaded the latest version and followed the steps in the apachefriends website.

but the problem is this. first that i installed lampp i installed the phpmyadmin,mySQL,apache and PHP5 and when i typed localhost in my browser(firefox) i could see this message:

It works!

This is the default web page for this server.

The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.

and i set a password for my root user in phpmyadmin and could login.

but when i installed xampp i could not login to the phpmyadmin anymore. and i saw the #2002 Error..

another thins is this. when i typed this URL http://localhost/xampp/index.php i could see the default page of xampp but right now when i type this URL this error appears:

Not Found

The requested URL /xampp/index.php was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80

You probably installed a LAMP stack (or at least part of it) via the 'installer' (likely apt-get). If you want to run XAMPP/lampp - you will need to stop the other services (Apache, mySQl, ProFTPD etc) from running on startup, or close them manually before starting XAMPP.

There are a variety of ways to prevent those items you installed from automatically starting (including un-installing them - although that sometimes breaks things). The best way to do it differs by distribution. It usually involves using the init tables/configuration.

I'm a Fedora guy, so I will not try to give you good advice here, best gotten from the source.
