I'm running 1.7.2a for Mac. I posted on the Mac forum but haven't gotten any responses and I don't think this is a Mac-specific issue so I'm hoping to get some help here. I've never had trouble until a few days ago. Suddenly, when I try to view my php site via localhost, there is no content on any of the pages. I'm not getting a 404 - not getting a db connection message - just zero content. When I do a view source, there's nothing there. Someone suggested it might be a permissions issue so I checked and although my username had read/write permissions for all the folders, 'admin' and 'everyone' only had read permissions for the xamppfiles, htdocs and the root folder of the site so I changed all of them to read/write. I'm not sure if that was wise but I didn't know what else to try. However, wise or not, it didn't work. I thought maybe I needed a whole new repository now that the permissions were changed so I deleted the original and cloned again. That didn't make a difference, either. I still can't bring up any files from the site.

Everything on my XAMPP console seems to be running fine. The error_log for the past few days has this - none of which I know how to interpret but it was Thurs, Sept 13th when I started having problems. Any suggestions you have will be much appreciated.

If it does the SIGTERM thing just when I shut down, then the logs look (to me) pretty normal for the past couple of days but I still can't view any pages through localhost:

Well, since SIGTERM is a Unix specific function (despite the idea that Mac OS is an OS - "not" its a shell for BSD not an OS.) - the short answer is has nothing to do with Windows.
Thus I am moving this to the Linux board as they will at least know what SIGTERM is.

SIGTERM, BTW, is how the OS tells running processes that the world as they know it is likely coming to an end.

How do I do this? (Btw, I'm primarily a front-end design type person. My knowledge of servers, how to use the command line, etc. is pretty close to zilch.)

So let me get this straight - a bunch of zombies attacked my dying/dead children?? Are we sure this isn't a syfy flick?
Seriously, I did Google this and it sort of fits with my hunch about what happened. I use a program called MacHg for mercurial version control and twice now, it's hung - can't get it to do anything. The first time it happened, I deleted the repository I had on my machine, cloned a new one and all was fine. I tried that this time, and although MacHg is working fine now, Apache isn't (or whatever is causing me to be unable to view my site). The first time, Apache never stopped working, though - just MacHg. I don't know that that's what caused the problem but MacHg hung and I haven't been able to view my site since then so it seems like they must be related in some way.

I had Googled this - much of it is way over my head, but I did see one suggestion to stop Apache twice and then restart it. I tried that - through the XAMPP console - but it didn't help.


What is 'ShrinkOffice' anyway - or should we guess?
Might be fun to hear your guesses. : ) It's an online app I'm developing for mental health practitioners - does their "office" work for 'em.
