Hi, I have a fresh install of XAMPP (1.8.0) on Linux (Ubuntu). I untarred it as root in /opt and when I go to phpMyAdmin, I get this error message:
MySQL said:

#2002 - No such file or directory
The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured).
Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.

Why is this happening?

you likely have a problem in your config.inc.php file.

Did you use the XAMPP security script? (/opt/lampp/lampp security)

:?:

I have the same problem.
I used "/opt/lampp/lampp security" but I still have the problem.

OK - We don't know what the other users issue was/is.

It is probably a problem, with config.inc.php

Why don't you paster that file into a PM and I will see if anything obvious stands out OR post it here with the password data only 'fudged'.

Good Luck
