MySql Deactivated and PHP blocked

Self Explanatory, New install of Lampp on clean install of 12.04LTS PP, this is now combined with PHPmyadmin not being accessible through the Lampp tools section of the control panel....i have changed all the security settings to offer passwords to offer some security. I have looked at the PHP configuration file but i have no permission to change anything....go slowly and clearly...i'm totally in the dark....Thank You!

Although that may have no bearing - what do you mean by teh above and this: 'PHP is Blocked"?

Does http://locahost/xampp work OK?

BTW, the owner of /opt/lampp/* pretty much has to be nobody:root -- did you use a 'chown' command?

"HOW" did you try to access phpMyAdmin?

Did you try using the link on the XAMPP Welcome page? If so, what happened?
