Error message? I've downloaded lampp to a clean installation of Ubuntu 12.04 for the second time. Prior to the second Lampp download i uninstalled all the components of Mysql, Perl, Php and Apache via Synaptic. I get the same problem Mysql is deactivated in the Lampp status and after stopping and restarting Lampp the terminal indicates other instances are running.

"Starting XAMPP for Linux 1.7.7...
XAMPP: Another web server daemon is already running.
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
XAMPP: Another FTP daemon is already running.
XAMPP for Linux started.
root@matthew-ThinkPad-T60:/home/matthew# "

The security is clear as secure passwords have been installed...
