Lampp fails to start

Postby rabidmachine9 » 02. March 2012 17:47

Hello I was trying to resolve a conflict in my Apache installation,
and following a suggestion in this post:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/60558/how-i-can-turn-off-unknown-webserver-apache-probably
I executed this command:
Code: Select all
sudo aptitude purge apache2

This didn't solve the problem at all,
instead every-time I'm trying to start Lampp I get this message:

Code: Select all
name:~$ sudo $LAMPP start
Starting XAMPP for Linux 1.7.7...
/opt/lampp/share/lampp/phpstatus: line 4: /opt/lampp/bin/php: No such file or directory

I'm also pretty sure all my db's are deleted which is a real pain...
but can somebody please tell me what's going on ?
I'm on ubuntu 11.10.
thanks in advance for any help

To whichever of you posted the original question - if you created the databases under LAMPP - I see no way that the command you issued would delete them - NOR do I see how you would have broken LAMPP.

Good luck
