Phpmyadmin Mysql password reset

Postby Whiti » 28. October 2011 03:30

Hey,

I have misplaced the phpmyadmin and mysql password in linux CentOS, i have reset it before manually but i have forgotten how to run mysql with --skip-grant-tables option on a lampp(linux xampp) server.
I tried the following
/opt/lampp/lampp startmysql --skip-grant-tables
and
service mysqld start --skip-grant-tables

using both of these mysql -u -root -p still asks for a password

All i need to know is how to start mysql with skip grant tables

Thanks,
Carl Patrick

AFAIK, that syntax only works with the MySQL command line interface, the 'mysql' executable.

I'm not at work, so my LAMPP box is not in front of me, but I think its (mysql executable) is in /opt/lampp/bin.

http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html

/opt/lampp/bin/ The XAMPP commands home. /opt/lampp/bin/mysql calls for example the MySQL monitor.

Good Luck
