XAMPP Remote connection MySQL

Postby jdmmer » 10. September 2011 08:37

I'm trying to get remote connections to work to my database. However it won't work. I'm using Debian and I've installed XAMPP on there.

I tried to add this at /opt/lampp/etc/my.cnf

bind-address = IP-OF-REMOTE-SERVER

And I checked if skip-networking was commented.

But, when I then try to start the MySQL server it says: XAMPP: Couldn't start MySQL.

What am I doing wrong?

Two things
A -
what does it say in /opt/lampp/var/mysql/localhost.localdomain.err ???

B -
did you try binding to 0.0.0.0 ???

(skip networking IS commented out, right???)

and I guess I should ask 'HOW and with WHAT are you trying to connect' ?? - once we get things running ...

Good Luck
