Problem with Xampp updating from ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10

Hello,

I'm used to enjoy developping with Xampp on ubuntu, everything was ok since i was working on Ubuntu 10.04 but since i updated to ubuntu 10.10 and i can't get the mysql server to work.
After some research i noticed that ubuntu has installed a mysql server for the system, so when i'm trying to launch Xampp i get the "Another MySQL daemon is already running." error.

I'm afraid to break the system if i remove this mysql server, any workaround for this problem?
