Localhost is messed up - does not point to XAMPP

Postby cwrighta70 » 03. June 2011 20:15

Hello, all. I was recently attempting to follow some instructions for locally installing Drupal 6. I've had XAMPP up and running for some time, and didn't think when I used 'apt-get' to install apache2. I believe this must have rerouted my localhost elsewhere, because now when I browse to 'http://localhost/MYFILES' (which obviously are located at "/opt/lampp/htdocs/"), it does not find my files. Can anyone tell me how to check and fix this?

Appreciate your help!

Nevermind. I used Synaptic to remove the apache2, then took the long route of simply backing up my htdocs directory, then reinstalling XAMPP. Worked great, but unfortunately I forgot to backup my MySQL db's. I would highly suggest that anyone who has this same problem backs up BOTH htdocs and mysql. :)
