moving htdocs to a shared drive in another network computer

I have installed and hardened LAMPP in Centos. However, I want my htdocs and mysql database for my ofice's intranet to be in a windows partition in another computer in the network. I mean, I want Apache to get the webpage and the data from a a remote (relative to the lampp installation) location.
Has anyone tried to do that? Is it worth it?
