Unable to import sql data of more than 2MB

Dear Friends,
I have the OS RHEL5 and installed the xampp-linux-1.7.tar. Everything is successful but when I want to use my old(backup) sql database for joomla which is of more than 3MB, it is unable to import.
In nutshell, I am unable to import sql data of more than 2MB in lampp database.
If anyone can help me out...Pls//
