restor xampp 1.7 in ubuntu

hi i use xampp 1.7 on ubuntu 10.4
i must re install ubuntu
so make a copy from /opt/lampp folder
after re install ubuntu and past folder to same position mysql not run
i try install new xampp and replace old file into it but not work
i have a full site design by joomla on it
and it very importand to recover
plz help
