Installing XAMPP other places

Postby visumagic » 19. October 2010 05:22

Hi

I want to install xampp in my own dir under my home in Ubuntu 10. I spend lot of time searching in forums. But struck in one place.

I can create a soft link or i can mount to /opt/lampp

ln -s /home/ubuntu/lampp /opt/lampp
or
mount --bind /home/ubuntu/lampp /opt/lampp

Both the times I'm getting following error while starting lampp. Mysql is failing to start.

XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
/opt/lampp/bin/mysql.server: 260: /opt/lampp/bin/my_print_defaults: not found
/opt/lampp/bin/mysql.server: 263: /opt/lampp/bin/my_print_defaults: not found
XAMPP: Couldn't start MySQL!

This could be a old issue, but I could not find the answer.

Please help me.

Offffwwwww

Got it. I'm using Ubunt 64, Xampp supports only 32. So installed ia32-libs

Problem fixed

thanks
