Hi,
sometimes (on a 1 day-yes-1-day-no basis) I got the following message from the original backup script:
Code: Select all
Backing up databases...
Backing up configuration, log and htdocs files...
Calculating checksums...
Building final backup file...
cat: write error: No space left on device Backup finished.

While this is what df-h throws after the backup:
Code: Select all
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
                      105G   58G   42G  59% /
/dev/sda1              99M   31M   63M  33% /boot
tmpfs                 596M     0  596M   0% /dev/shm

And this is the size of the last backup:
14G /opt/lampp/backup/xampp-backup-08-10-10.sh

How much x00% of space should I keep in order to make the backup script work? If I have 42 G free, 29GB in /backups, and about 20GB in the rest of XAMPP Whats wrong?

How much free space do I need to make a backup of 20GB? more than 220% ??????

Thanks early for your responses

Same question!

We have more than the double of free space - obviously still not enough.

Thanks, sugus
