Having proftpd 530 password error

Postby strider95 » 08. May 2010 19:07

i restarted my server and now i cant access ftp even though i know i have the right password. I was trying to create a new user that had the same problem before, but i dont know.

In addition, i think this may have to do with it:

root@server-desktop:~# /opt/lampp/lampp start
Starting XAMPP for Linux 1.7.3a...
XAMPP: XAMPP-Apache is already running.
XAMPP: XAMPP-MySQL is already running.
XAMPP: Another FTP daemon is already running.
XAMPP for Linux started.
root@server-desktop:~# /opt/lampp/lampp start
Starting XAMPP for Linux 1.7.3a...
XAMPP: XAMPP-Apache is already running.
XAMPP: XAMPP-MySQL is already running.
XAMPP: Another FTP daemon is already running.
XAMPP for Linux started.
root@server-desktop:~# /opt/lampp/lampp restart
Stopping XAMPP for Linux 1.7.3a...
XAMPP: Stopping Apache with SSL...
XAMPP: Stopping MySQL...
XAMPP: XAMPP-ProFTPD is not running.
XAMPP stopped.
Starting XAMPP for Linux 1.7.3a...
XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP5)...
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
XAMPP: Another FTP daemon is already running.
XAMPP for Linux started.

I now reinstalled everything, but when i restarted it, it still said "Another FTP daemon is already running" i think this is my problem. any ideas? Does anyone know how to completely remove proftpd and reinstall it?

I fixed it. there was a rouge process running at the beggining of startup that prevented proftpd, so i stopped it.
