A matter of security

I am sorry if this has been discussed already, but I really like this whole XAMPP idea and I've been using it for quite a while now. I also know that the word "secure" can be a very relative notion. I'd just like to get a simple answer: Is XAMPP really less "secure" then default apache and mysql solutions incorporated in various linux distributions and why there is a disclaimer that XAMPP is not suitable for production environment. Thanks for any answers.
