XAMPP hangs on install

Hey All,

I'm trying (somewhat desperately) to install XAMPP on a Fedora machine. I've successfully installed it before on this machine and had no issues, now it is refusing.

I wgetted 1.7.2 and when I untar it at some seemingly random interval whilst it is unpacking it freezes. I've checked the disk, plenty of space on the drive, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

Anyone got any ideas?
