Procedure to move XAMPP to another Linux server

Postby chardee42 » 11. October 2009 21:45

Is there a procedure for moving a XAMPP web site from one Linux server to another? The small intranet site has been running for a year or two on XAMPP and I'd like to zip it up and move it to another server. However, all of the files zip up except the mysock.xxx files which it says are in use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not an expert, but I would like to share my experience with you. I tried two methods: transferring /opt/lampp folder to another local linux box by ftp and archiving /opt/lampp folder (tar.gzip) and transferring it. Both methods have worked, but I am a bit concerned with the archiving method because when I extracted the archived file, I got some error messages. I am not sure if the errors are real because everything seems to be OK.

That is why I would like to pose another question: What archiving method is the best?
