mysql-admin with xampp on ubuntu

Hello, i'm trying to manage my databases using mysql-admin on ubuntu, but i cant configure it to connect to que mysql server bundled with xampp, is it posible to manage the databases on xampp with mysql-admin? (i know xampp has phpmyadmin, it's just that id like to use it with another tool).
