SSL cert install issues

Totally out of my depth here but I'm trying to struggle on through, I've just attempted to install a GoDaddy cert onto my server, everything was going just peachy until I tried to restart lampp and during the apache restart it just hangs and can't start up.
I've edited my httpd-vhosts.conf and my httpd-ssl.conf without any joy, the only way I can get apache to restart is to change my httpd-ssl.conf settings back to the original ones.
I did try a search on this but couldn't find the answer. Any ideas?
