Hi,
I just downloaded XAMPP from apachefriends, installed it without problem on a Fedora 8 distrib. I can test it via http://localhost on the server, but cannot get it via another computer (http://192.168.0.2) on the LAN.
I looked in the .conf, port 80 is well selected. What I am missing ?
Any help appreciated.
Regards

The problem is not Xampp, but a firewall or similar.

Nobbie,
Thank you for your fast reply.
But I don't have a firewall, only a 8 ports switch. Or may be is there a fire wall in Apache ?.
I'm brand new at Linux and don't know much of it.
Do you have another tip to get me thru ?
Regards

Sure?

>I'm brand new at Linux and don't know much of it.

If you are brand new - how will you know that there is no firewall (software!) active on your Linux distribution?

>Do you have another tip to get me thru ?

No. Find the firewall on your Linux.

Nobbie,
Thank you again for your fast reply.
I'm new with linux but not completely with internet on other systems.
If I remember well, a firewall can also be a piece of hardware (in a router for example). If it is software in our case, I don't know where to start looking.
I'm sorry you cannot help me more.
May be will I find someone who knows.
Regards

Simply enter "Fedora 8 firewall" in Google and search!

I found many links about firewalls in Fedora Linux, maybe this one already helps you:

http://openskill.info/infobox.php?ID=247

If not, go on looking for documentation - Google will help you.

Nobbie,
That was it !
There is a firewall in Fedora 8. Not hidden but we must know where it is.
The port 80 was disabled by default. Now it works and I continue learning.
Thank you again for your help !
