I installed xampp on Wolvix 1.1.0 (based on Slax) and it worked fine. I then untarred the Tomcat add-on without any issues, followed each step without any troubles and also installed the java SDK 1.6 fine and it works. however when i include tomcat.conf to httpd.conf it always shows:

Code: Select all
Starting XAMPP for Linux 1.6.6...
XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP5)...
XAMPP: Error 1! Couldn't start Apache!
XAMPP: Starting diagnose...
XAMPP: Sorry, I've no idea what's going wrong.
XAMPP: Please contact our forum http://community.apachefriends.org/f/
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD...
XAMPP for Linux started.

and i have no idea why. i tried everything. also very interesting is the fact that if apache is started and i include tomcat.conf then and after reboot apache, apache never shuts down. i have to restart my laptop to stop the apache service. any help appreciated. thx!

Hello, This error could be if you trying to Integrated Tomcat with XAMPP for Linux, so, you have

Open lampp/etc/httpd.conf and comment the following lines:

Include etc/extra/httpd-mod_jk.conf
Include etc/extra/httpd-mod_proxy.conf

Pd. Sorry for my English
