what to change to run on 64

I've read several post about compatibility with x64 and tried to find out what the best thing to do is. Not being fluent in German might be a reason too, sorry. Now I wondered, is it possible to change, remove or replace some packages after installation and thus change my xampp install towards a x64 package? Or would it be better to install all the packages one after another? If so, could someone point me to a good manual so I get the same stable webserver as if it was a 32 bit system?
