MySQL Socket error

Postby TomiH_89 » 01. April 2007 15:56

Hi!

I have installed the latest LAMPP on Fedora Core 6 Linux. When I start the servers and look up from the explorer, it gives me an socket error.

I found this log in LAMPPs files:

070318 18:06:46 mysqld started
070318 18:06:46 [ERROR] Can't start server : Bind on unix socket: Permission denied
070318 18:06:46 [ERROR] Do you already have another mysqld server running on socket: /opt/lampp/var/mysql/mysql.sock ?
070318 18:06:46 [ERROR] Aborting

070318 18:06:46 [Note] /opt/lampp/sbin/mysqld: Shutdown complete

070318 18:06:46 mysqld ended

070401 16:51:40 mysqld started
070401 16:51:40 [ERROR] Can't start server : Bind on unix socket: Permission denied
070401 16:51:40 [ERROR] Do you already have another mysqld server running on socket: /opt/lampp/var/mysql/mysql.sock ?
070401 16:51:40 [ERROR] Aborting

070401 16:51:40 [Note] /opt/lampp/sbin/mysqld: Shutdown complete

070401 16:51:40 mysqld ended

sorry, my post seems to be lacking much of information :)

I downloaded LAMPP (XAMPP for Linux) from http://apachefriends.org. I unpacked the compressed folder and placed all the files in /opt/lampp/...

Then, using the terminal, I did:
#CD /opt/lampp
#./lampp start

Due to the information then presented in the terminal everything was ok. When I opened the site in FireFox, I got this message:
Fatal Session Error at line 211: MYSQL Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/lampp/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

And from the error logs I found the bits of text provided with the first message.

I remember seeing somewhere reference to error 2002 or something like that.

No Commands... just did it with the package unpacker in graphical mode. "Extract here"
