Installation error: failed to open stream-Permission denied

i just installed the latest version xampp for linux and I getting the following error after starting the server (all services) and logging in:

I also verified that the htdocs directory has 755 permissions.

Any ideas what i can do to fix this problem? TIA

You have installed XAMPP as user "root"?

Sorry, then I can't help.

(The only reason I know for this error is: Someone don't install XAMPP in that way described in the manual.)

I changed the permissions on htdocs to 777 as a test and it works now. Why is 755 not sufficient?
