I'm trying to restore a backup I created but I'm getting the following error message:

Code: Select all
command: sh xampp-backup-30-08-06.sh <mysqlpasswordinhere>

tar: Read 4096 bytes from -
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Checking integrity of files...
grep: md5sums: No such file or directory
Restoring configuration, log and htdocs files...
tar: Skipping to next header

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
Checking versions...
cat: VERSION: No such file or directory
Installed:   XAMPP 1.5.3a
Backup from: XAMPP
The backup sofware is not able to handle different XAMPP versions.
Your backuped configuration from  may not work with 1.5.3a and may need manually corrections.
XAMPP: Do you want to continue [no] yes
Let's try...
Restoring MySQL databases...
xampp-backup-30-08-06.sh: line 129: *.sql: No such file or directory
* FAILED: cat: output: No such file or directory
Restoring MySQL user databases...
xampp-backup-30-08-06.sh: line 138: mysql.sql: No such file or directory
MySQL user FAILED: cat: output: No such file or directory
Backup complete. Have fun!
You may need to restart XAMPP to complete the restore.

I'm executing the command on a different computer than the backup was made but it's still done in the latest version of xampp. Why is it not working?

I've been trying to get this working for 10 days now and I have found no solution. Is there anyway that I can recover the mysql data manually from the backup? That's all that really matters from that. Thanks...

wow, that really sucks... I'm never going to trust the xampp backup system and I shouldn't have in the first place.
