XAMPP for Cygwin?

Is it possible to run XAMPP under cygwin?

I tried to set it up but when I try to start the service, LAMPP complains that it must be started as root, but cygwin has no root user or the ability to add a root user.

What can I do?

I'm confused about why you'd want to do this. XAMPP, along with other LAMP suites (e.g. apache2triad) already runs natively on Windows, so why use cygwin as an additional layer?

For serious developmente is better use a environement like the production server, so your question makes sense because if you use linux/unix on your production server, is better use cygwin than windows.

I dont have a answer for your question, but have a sugestion: compile all the packadges inluded in xampp on your cygwin.

See my question about compiling:
