Problems with the Linux version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

Hey all,
I'm trying to install mailman on my Ubuntu server, but I'm having troubles. The best installation instructions that I've found is written for installing through apt-get, and I can't figure out how to change it such that it doesn't rely on a local copy of MySQL and apache, and uses LAMPP instead.

I tried taking the source and compiling it myself, but ran into some problems early on, and so figured that if I could avoid doing that, life would be much easier. I guess if I have to, that is a recourse though.

Thanks for any help that you can offer.
