Installing XAMPP in another directory

Is it possible to install a 2nd version of XAMPP in another directory ? I tried:

1) tar xvfz xampp-linux-1.5.1.tar.gz -C /tmp
2) /tmp/lampp/lampp start

But this started the "/opt/lampp/..." deamons.

My intention was to "try" the new version of XAMPP while keeping the old one for a while, just in case.
