xampp virtual hosts

THis is not a xampp problem. I am asking for assistance in configuring a test server. I have a www.domainname.ca address registered and being forewarded by my domain name registration service provider to a static ip address lik e###.###.###.###/whateverfolder. Problem I am having is after i type in www.domainname.ca it goes to my site and then changes to the staticipaddress in the url bar. I have the domain name registration people forwarding to that static ip address. I don't know how to change my server configuration to stay at www.domainname.ca/whateverfolder instead of going to ###.###.###.###/whateverfolder. I have read up on virtual hosts and seemingly successfully configured this in the httpd.conf file of xampp. However I do not know what to do next. I type in my registered www.domainname.ca and it goes to the forwarding url i provided to my domain name register service provider. Any suggestions, other readings that u can point me to would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You need two DNS servers. In each DNS server you have an entry with your domain name and your static ip:
