How to use a self signed SSL certificate

HI,

I am having trouble replacing the kay and certificate that come with XAMPP by default.

I did the following:

openssl genrsa -des3 -out server.key 2048

then

openssl req -new -x509 -key server.key -out server.crt -days 1095

and then replaced the key and certificate that came with XAMPP

However this does not work, that is Apache does not start.

Do you have any idea of what is wrong?
