APACHE doesn't start

I installed a fresh copy of Fedora Core 3 and XAMPP (both which worked fine) until I followed the tutorial here: http://www.astahost.com/info.php/apaches-userdir-with-very-own-cgi-bin_t3698.html.

Now APACHE does not start, diagnostics can't find anything wrong and I am fairly sure I followed the tutorial to the letter.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

Note: No other changes to httpd.conf were made.
