adapting config files when upgrading ??

the few upgrades i did until now were simple ; just unzip the new files over the old ones ...
but now the readme (1.4.10a & 1.4.11) says to adapt the new config. files ; what does that mean ? compare the old my.cnf with the new my.new.cnf and delete or add lines that are different ??
this one looks a bit funny :
change "Server=E:/apps/xampp/mysql/bin/mysqld-nt.exe" to "winmysqladmin.exe" !?
just asking before i screw up my configuration ...
