Security Problems

I have down loaded and installed XAMPP on windows XP for use only on my computer. My internet connection is cable so it is on all the time. By installing XAMPP, will I have additional security problems? If yes, how do I set it up so I can reduce the possiblity of someone hacking into my computer?

Get a firewall!! If you are just trying things out, another possability is to ServerName as localhost
