I have installed XAMPP/Apache (Windows) and it is very impressive. I hope to use it locally as a platform to teach myself php web programming. Please excuse my simple question.. When I browse to "http://localhost/", the browser always links to "splash.php", even though I have removed all index. and default. htm or .php files from the htdocs\xampp folder. Can anyone please explain to me how this happens?? Where is the configuration or page which routes the browser to "splash.php". Apologies again, but I am new to non-static web page development.

Reading down a few messages I see a suggestion to clear the cache of the browser. I did this (Firefox) and the problem is solved. No index file, so I get an "Index of.. type page".
