SQL authentication problem

Postby luma » 21. December 2004 13:51

Hello all,

I have installed xampp 1.4.10A. I used the installer
once it was installed I went to localhost and set up security (put a root password for sql and password for xampp folder itself)
I then set up some sql databases, restored them (had them backed up before I did the new install)
when I try to connect using one of my scripts that worked fine with an older version of SQL I get this...
*******
Warning: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading
*******

one thing I find VERY odd with xampp is there is no my.ini file in the windows directory. where is it?

there is a my file xampp/mysql/bin but it opens winmysqladmin (I hate this program)

anyone have any ideas of what the problem might be?

thank you

Luc
