localhost directory

Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

localhost directory

Postby arduncan » 07. February 2024 00:19

Newbie here, my question is: how can I get localhost to default to a different directory? I just installed wordpress to the htdocs directory and can access it via localhost/wordpress but need access from localhost (no subdirectory). Fresh install of xampp on Windows 10.

Thanks in advance,

Richard

See DocumentRoot in httpd.conf

But you have to install Wordpress after changing DocumenRoot, not before.

I have already installed Wordpress. Is it possible to re-run the install after changing the httpd.conf file?

Also (possibly due to wordpress being already installed), after changing the httpd.conf file serverroot to "c:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress", the Apache service would not start.

Ok, I had changed the serverroot and not the documentroot. I have corrected that now. Also uninstalled and reinstalled Wordpress. Everything is working now.

Thanks again!
