mySQL is stopped shortly after it is started

Less than a second after mySQL is started and it says "running" is it stopped again.

I get the following lines:

The problem started two days after I installed WordPress in htdocs. What may be the cause of the problem and how can it be resolved? Otherwise I would need to reinstall xampp. The only strange thing there is that xampp does not appear in the list of software programs in the windows control planel. So, I would not know how to safely install it in order to remove it completely from the system.
