Error: My SQL shutdown unexpectedly.

I encountered the same error today. See my logfile below.

XAMPP has been running on my Windows PC for appr. 6 months without a problem. Yesterday everything was fine, but today it fails to connect to MySQL. Does anyone know why?

The solution provided in this post worked for me. Don't know if it will last, but at least I have access to my data for the moment.
