ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT [SOLVED]

I just want to share my experience in solving an ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT problem, because the solution was atypical. The problem was that the other machines in my network (another computer, two tablets and a phone) could not get to the new website-in-the-making on my main computer. The website is located in C:\xampp\htdocs\www\, the advised folder. Accessing the website from my main machine through the localhost and http://120.0.0.1/ URLs was no problem.

First, I tried the usual suspects as listed on https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/loc ... nect-error. A fine article in itself, but to no avail for me. I then remembered that last summer, I changed my modem from 5GHz to 2.4GHz, because my air conditioning would only connect through the 2.4 band. I found it hard to believe that that could cause it, but I still tried changing it back. Et voilá: that solved the problem. (I'm getting a new, much more energy efficient airco, which I expect to connect through the 5GHZ band as well.)
