Something is very rotten with Xampp and Windows Update

Sometime ago my Mysql crashed after a Windows update with the familiar symptom of shutting down a couple of seconds after being started. None of the recommended solutions worked and I had to start a new installation.

And now - after probably the first Windows update - I have the same error again. This signals that this is not just some accident but that something more fundamentally is wrong.

I would like to hear the experiences of others.

BTW. My first installation was the latest Xampp-64 with PHP 7.3. The second used PHP 7.4. I have also an old installation with PHP 5 that doesn't give problems. As the PHP 7.3 had run for quite some time before I got the problem (and survived a lot of Windows updates) I suspect that Windows has made some changes that causes it to no longer correctly closing MariaDb when it shuts down for the upgrade.

One of many reasons, why i dont use Windows anymore. I use Linux (for over 15 years already) and i am happy. No more Microsoft hassles.

Maybe related:

When closing Apache I get an error message with access violation in xampp-control.exe.

not related. this message occurs because the xampp control panel is not able to write its own ini file if started not with enhanced administrator rights.
