phpMyAdmin errors when starting

Postby ajax » 11. February 2022 22:46

Just installed portable (zip file) version 8.1.2 of xampp for Windows. When I browse to localhost the normal splash screen gets displayed. However, when I navigate to phpMyAdmin a bunch of errors get displayed as indicated in the following:

I haven't yet done anything (to screw it up). Just trying to verify that it works. Of course in my case, planning to create a new Wordpress website, phpMyAdmin is at the top of the list when it comes to what needs to work.

BTW, I've been using xampp for many years now and love it. Never had anything like this happen before. Fortunately, I've got at least 2 prior installations running that work just fine. Therefore, I can easily revert to them but thought now, when starting a new project for a new website, might be the time to update.

Any suggestions?

A little more research leads to conclusion that the problem reported here is the same as another one that can be found as follows:
https://community.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=81608&p=275231&hilit=deprecation+notice#p275231.

In that case the idea of replacing the supplied version (5.1.1) of phpMyAdmin with Version 5.2 was recommended. I found that using Version 5.1.3 also solved the problem.
